I hope you all have a great holiday with family and friends and lots of love and sparkles (of course)! I’m so grateful for all of your love and support over the years. See Song Designs is definitely a passion project and I love designing and making jewelry for you.
I’m looking forward to lots of yummy food this weekend and seeing all of my family. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
If you haven’t noticed, there are quite a few new jewelry pieces in the shop. One of the big changes to the line is the addition of hand made rings!
One of my longtime goals has been to add rings to See Song Designs. The idea of making rings using fire and metals has always intimidated me, but I knew rings would really complete the collection and I kind of just love wearing rings in general 🙂 Last year, I finally took the dive and enrolled in a basic metal-smith class. I was able to learn the fundamentals of soldering and shaping metal, and it was an amazing experience.
A look at my ring making station with my once super scary metalsmithing tools.
Since then, I have been working on honing and improving my techniques to finally bring you some beautiful simple rings for the new See Song Designs collection. All of the Opal Rings are made of 16 gauge 14k gold-filled which has a solid layer of 14K gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal, which lasts for many years, even with daily wear. Since each ring is handmade, you are able to get lots of customization. There are 5 multi-dimensional colored synthetic opals to choose from, and you can choose if you’d like the ring to have a smooth or hammered finish.
I also make simple thin band rings which are perfect for stacking and can be made in 18 gauge gold-filled or sterling silver in any size or finish. I personally love wearing the thing rings as stacked midi rings.
Hope everyone’s staying warm and cozy as Fall is in our midst and Winter is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I love the warm looking, bold jewel tones of Fall. Here’s a fun and cozy layered look featuring SSD jewelry for those brisk cool mornings.
If you’re in the Chicago area, we will be having a Trunk Show at Comfort Me Boutique in Lincoln Park this Saturday (11/16) from 12PM-4PM. You will be able to shop all of our new holiday pieces as well as our classic pieces. Please RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org Hope to see you this weekend!
Disclaimer: I did not go to school in the south nor did I go to OU (Illini for life, if you’re wondering). However, my boyfriend went to OU and is a die hard Sooner fan. Thus, every year for the past 4 years, we travel down to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry game between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas.
The first time I went to Dallas, it was a huge a culture shock to see southern belles decked out from head to toe in their school colors. I’m talking homemade spirit dresses, huge hair, bold lipstick, and of course, no outfit in the south is complete without cowboy boots. If you’re like me, and fairly new to the whole decked out game day look, it can be really easy to be fashionable while supporting your favorite team.
Victoria’s Secret has their Collegiate Collection (and NFL & MLB lines) which make dressing cute for the game super simple. If you have some time and you’re feeling crafty, I love this Game Day Dress tutorial made out of regular old tshirts. Jewelry and accessories are also a great way to add some color and sparkle to your look. I’m partial to our bow bracelets and bows in general. Since SSD jewelry is hand made, we can make many of our designs in an endless array of colors. If you can’t find your team’s colors email us at email@example.com to order your spirit jewelry!
How do you rep your school on game day? Check out my game day inspo below!
If you follow SSD on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, you probably saw the insane amount of posts about our jewelry being on the season premiere of the FXX show, The League.
It all started back in June. I got an email from the costume stylist from the show about possibly sending in some of my jewelry for their show. I couldn’t believe it! I have been watching The League since college, and I dabble
dominate in a little Fantasy Football myself. I emailed the stylist back and said I would be more than happy to submit some of my pieces for the show. I never really wanted to get my hopes up since stylists usually have hordes of jewelry and clothing to pick from, so the chances that my jewelry would be picked were still slim.
Four grueling months later, the first episode of The League aired and within 1 minute of the show, I saw our Nautical Necklace and our Neon Yellow Statement Necklace on the fabulous Jayma Mays! You may also know her as Emma Pillsbury from Glee (another favorite of mine). The stylist contacted me to also let me know that my jewelry will be on next week’s episode as well, so be sure to tune in, and see if you can spot a little See Song Designs sparkle on a Jayma again 🙂 If you missed this week’s episode, check out the scene where Jayma wears our jewelry here and some haphazard snaps I took while watching below!

It’s been a fantastic first year of business here at See Song Designs. There is really nothing that can compare to the feeling of making your dreams become a reality. This first year has brought some tremendous highs and lows which have taught me countless lessons as an entrepreneur and a jewelry designer. I really can’t thank each of you enough from my friends and family, to the amazing bloggers and boutique buyers I’ve worked with, to the media and press that have so graciously recognized my jewelry, and most importantly, to each and every person that has bought a piece of See Song Designs Jewelry. With each piece being personally designed and made, it is really amazing to see my customers wear and love the jewelry that I lovingly make with my own hands. In the end, making jewelry makes me happy, and I am ecstatic that you all share my love and vision with every piece you own.
NEW COLLECTION & WEBSITE
With Fall right around the corner, I will be debuting our Fall and Holiday collection on a new website. Our website will be launching soon and you can buy jewelry directly from the site for U.S. and Canadian customers. International orders will still be available through Etsy or through special requests. Here’s a little sneak peek at the new site!
SSD ON TV!
On September 4, SSD jewelery will be featured on the show, The League, on FXX. A very special surprise guest star will be wearing SSD, so be sure to tune into the season premier to see who it is! If you keep up with the show, you probably already know who it is 😉
Again, thank you for your love and support, and I can’t wait to share all of See Song Designs’ successes with you. Make sure you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get up to date news on what we’re up to 🙂
Awhile back, I entered a design contest with Shopbevel. You may have remembered voting for this jewelry design contest where the challenge was to design something that incorporated neon. I submitted my Neon Pink Crystal Cord Bracelet and ended up being one of the winners! Well, my design is up and running over at the Shopbevel site, and they did a fantastic job of photographing and styling my bracelet. Check out the photos below, and you can get the bracelet here! Only the Neon Pink is available at Shopbevel, but you can get the black and confetti versions directly from my website as well.
