Renegade Craft Fair was this last weekend, and it was such a blast! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and checked out our new pieces. Our Bow Bracelets and Fishtail Gem Bracelets were a huge hit at Renegade, so I’m excited to get to work creating more to restock. I have done quite a few craft fairs and street festivals in the past, but by far, Renegade has been my favorite to exhibit and attend.
I haven’t done a craft fair in quite awhile, so I was really excited for Renegade. I really wanted to revamp the look of my booth and the jewelry displays, so lots of planning and Pinteresting happened.
I decided on a neutral table cloth of burlap and then I made new bracelet stands inspired by this tutorial from Life Ann Style. Instead of using paper rolls, I used PVC piping from Home Depot that I covered in vinyl that I got from the fabric store. I also got some wooden crates from Michael’s to use as risers. I also used a clear tray from the container store filled with sparkly sand to hold my earrings and cuff bracelets.
For the tissue paper back drops, I used this tutorial from Ruffled Blog. They were so easy to do, and I loved the way they turned out!
I also got the opportunity to share my booth with Tammy from Tammy Smith Designs, so it was great to see how our brands looked side by side. If you need some unique and fun art you should definitely check out her collection!
Renegade has such a great variety of goods and the sheer caliber of the skills and creativity of the vendors are so amazing and inspiring. I constantly had to remind myself that I was there to sell and not to shop, but that didn’t stop me from picking up a few things 🙂 I ended up getting this Chicago Print from Tammy Smith Designs and this Self Watering Garden Jar from my other booth neighbor, Modern Sprout.
Thanks again to everyone who stopped by and be sure to check out our Events Page regularly to see where See Song Designs will be next!
Had to share a snap of our littlest and cutest bow bracelet customer from this weekend!
Hope everyone’s staying warm and cozy as Fall is in our midst and Winter is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I love the warm looking, bold jewel tones of Fall. Here’s a fun and cozy layered look featuring SSD jewelry for those brisk cool mornings.
If you’re in the Chicago area, we will be having a Trunk Show at Comfort Me Boutique in Lincoln Park this Saturday (11/16) from 12PM-4PM. You will be able to shop all of our new holiday pieces as well as our classic pieces. Please RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org Hope to see you this weekend!
As we continue to work on the new website, we wanted to add a little style inspiration back into the SSD blog. We’ll be posting how we would style some of our favorite SSD pieces with our favorite looks and trends!
With Fall pretty much here
even though it is currently 85 degrees in Chicago and NYFW upon us, we bet that you will be seeing lots of black and white ensembles this season. Black and white is the ultimate classic color palette. It’s chic, simple, and has endless options. Our new Linden Statement Necklace is the perfect compliment to any black and white ensemble, The silver and gold accents on the Linden Necklace make mixing metals super easy. We’re all about a flowy blouse balanced with these amazing structured metallic J. Crew Sandals. It’s probably even your last chance to show off that stellar pedicure before it gets too cold for open toed shoes. How would you style the Linden Necklace?

Awhile back, I entered a design contest with Shopbevel. You may have remembered voting for this jewelry design contest where the challenge was to design something that incorporated neon. I submitted my Neon Pink Crystal Cord Bracelet and ended up being one of the winners! Well, my design is up and running over at the Shopbevel site, and they did a fantastic job of photographing and styling my bracelet. Check out the photos below, and you can get the bracelet here! Only the Neon Pink is available at Shopbevel, but you can get the black and confetti versions directly from my website as well.

Shop local this week and support your favorite Chicago designers and small businesses at the 2013 Chicago Sidewalk Sale! See Song Designs along with other local Chicago designers will be selling all things fashion including accessories, clothing, and of course, jewelry. The event will be at the iconic Daley Plaza on July 23 & 24 from 9am-3pm. There will also be a runway show at noon each day styled by Garmental’s Style Director, Suzanne Kopulous. Hope to see you there!
Last month, I participated in this great shopping event at The Bedford called Shop the Night Away. It was a wonderful shopping event inside the parlor of the Bedford that included champagne and yummy appetizers. I thought the Bedford was a great venue to host a mini trunk show since it’s just so classy and has a nice relaxed feel. There were also some amazing vendors including Jojo & Sofia and Bonnie Body & Bath. I love doing these types of events and meeting other great handcrafted artists. The only downside (if you could call it that) to doing the event was that I simply couldn’t resist buying things from the other vendors! In the end, it was absolutely worth it, and I was able to meet some great people and pick up a pair of cuff links for my boyfriend and these amazing smelling soy body candles.
All of the vendors at the Bedford event!
My boyfriend and I at the SSD table 🙂
Welcome to the new See Song Designs blog! I want to share my journey in this creative endeavor of running a handmade jewelry business as well as any inspirations that come along the way. I started See Song Designs in April 2012, and it has grown so much from just being a hobby. I’m really excited to grow my business and see what opportunities come in the future, and I thank all of you for the love and support. I hope this blog will provide you with a nice break from your daily duties and give you inspiration to do what you love and follow your dreams.
